Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player secured his initial championship for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former trainer Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents his maiden trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of the previous year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one various competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to win a title is really nice," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.

His retrieving play style and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

He came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

The pair traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

The opponent saved 4 early opportunities in a tight third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
